Hi Judy, apparently the market was anticipating more than BEN could deliver. Keep in mind BEN's income is directly related to dollar amount of the assets they have under management. So when the market dropped so did their earnings.The good thing is the money management business has no direct investments in Hedge Funds, third world debt,etc. Therefore no surprises coming out of the woodwork like the banks have. The real question for BEN and other money managers, is this the beginning of a bear market? If its not, then BEN will come back with the market only more slowly until they can prove they still can earn 20% plus on their equity.
