I'm pretty excited about the chance that Gateway will be making Banshee the choice for 400/450 machines. The enthusiast market tends to buy high-horsepowr machines and the standard advice to buyers tends to be buy the best machine you can afford so the 400/450 will be top sellers.

The best thing about winning the OEM deal is that it allows 3dfx to prove that they can support the market. The past two conference calls have featured a lengthy discussion about 3dfx's investment in infrastructure to support the OEM market. That was very encouraging to me and this advance planning (the sign of good management) could make 3dfx a huge success.

I read thestreet.com via yahoo. Nothing has convinced me that they're worth $10 a month to subscribe, but they do have a fair bit of good information. In many way Greenberg has been right about graphic chip companies and 3dfx. They have gone down in price a great deal and the chance of quickly recovering to $35 is fairly slim. He is completely right about the constant leapfrogging in technology that occurs. What he doesn't seem to get is the potential of the 3d market (all video cards) and the key position that 3dfx holds. I don't think that 3dfx will be another Intel, but if ATI and they split the market, it will be very profitable for shareholders, especially those who bought in at the current cheap price.

ps - too busy with next year budget planning at work over the last week to call 3dfx, but I'll try this week.

Herb doesn't know technology from horse raddish. See my answer to him when he said that 3Dfx should run to SUNW and NSM before it gets slaughtered for a measure of how little he understands not only about 3Dfx, but also about NSM and SUNW (with ~20 Billion in market cap, you'd think he could at least get the Sun Micor part right).

CREAF on the other hand is in the perfect position to understand both 3Dfx and its market. So I take a vote of confidence from CREAF any time before I trust the analyst wanna be's (or even the analysts for that matter).

TheStreet.com reflects the "common wisdom" of Wall Street. It is _good_ that their opinion differs from mine on this stock. That is how I know that 3Dfx is undervalued.
