You're getting a false quote on Mar 99. There is no Mar 99 option, anyway. Jan 99 is this Jan and your quote on it of 1-1/4 to 1-7/16 is what I get. Your second January quote would be January 2000, and I get a lower price on that, 2-1/16 to 2-1/4. That means there's only a 1-3/16 premium for the extra year. There is no March 1999, but there is an April 1999. The price is 1/2 to 5/8. cboe.pcquote.com --Linda

Tom, The Jan 10 call option with symbol VLQAB is a good quote for VLSI. It closed today at 1 1/4 x 1 7/16. The other Jan 10 call with symbol ZQVAB is for a different stock, Puma Technology (PUMA). The only reason that I know is because I noticed the big disparity a few weeks ago and figured I'd try to sell some against my long VLSI position. I wasn't really expecting to get a fill but I figured what the heck lol. My broker called back to tell me that I was trying to sell 50 naked calls against PUMA so he canceled the order LOL. I think ZQVAB may have been a LEAP on VLSI a while back but was replaced with a regular option. I guess PUMA started using the same symbol after that. Interestingly, if you look up ZQV on the CBOE web site, it brings up VLSI. As for VLOCW, that option is for Valero Energy. I'm not sure why the symbols are so messed up but it is very confusing.
