<<< Those companies that will supply the replacement hardware and software systems for complete re-engineering and replacement solutions will do well. DELL has seen a significant increase in their sales in Europe due primarily to the need for the Common Market to scrap and replace their computer systems. Watch this problem closely in the coming months. How our companies handle these issues will determine how well their stock will do into the next century.>>>>

It seems that Dell is positioning themselves to do this job by
constructing new production facilities and hiring qualified people. Recent news item say that companies are leaning more toward replacement of systems than updating older ones. When companies/people call Dell to discuss their problems, experienced people are required on the phone to understand what system a company is presently using and what( if any )Dell systems can be used to cure the problems. That seems to require a knowledge of far more than just the Dell systems.
I think it partially explains why Dell prefers to contract out
( or simplify thru web sites), the service business, since those
(rather scarce people)experienced in the trade can be more efficiently used in the office.

Steven:Thanks, sounds like a plan to me.

Contrary to popular belief Y2K means more hardware spending, not less as shown by the report you posted and many others I have seen.

Thanks again for brining this to our attention.
