Ron, About the Stiglitz article...

He states, "A rise in gross domestic product had to be accompanied by a rise in living standards." That's the bottom line. Ties-in w/ the content of a post I made to WONG yesterday, where I mentioned domestic consumer demand in the ASEANs.

We've beat the topic around enough on prior occasions. Suffices to say that those nations who are incapable of providing higher living standards, for whatever reasons, will either remain the boom-bust puppets we know or sink into societal and economic oblivion. I suspect the latter will be their fate.

Then, of course, they could always try to tread water until they become tribune states of China.

Ron, There has been some serious talk about opening another trading board in Hong Kong. I'll undoubtedly notice any new equity issues, whether they be ipo's or additional shares in existing companies.

I don't want to be in Hong Kong if the communists begin using it as a dumping zone. If they want to float shares, let them do it in Shanghai.
