Well, maybe that's why Stumpy's been putting on the pounds. Besides absorbing recoil, he could just about take a Coon Cannonball to the stomach.

You know that Science Diet stuff, it doesn't take a scientist to see he needs a diet.

Actually, Stumpy strikes me as a Mortar Team Boy. He likes to sit up high, in his foxhole, on the porch. It's a cardboard box, on the very same spot he was born; up there on a stack of other stuff. He can stand up and look out; left are the squirrels, down are the raccoons. You could have rations and a blanket. You can tell, by the bend of his head and expression, when the squirrels are pissing him off; and sometimes he moves to the very last dry spot at the end of the porch near their tree. When the situation gets intense, or sleepy, you'll see him lying down in the box; and you can't really see anything except his ears and a little hump of his back, like a submerged box-hippo.
