Sir Robert, are you saying Detroit isn't Las Vegas?

You could have a point there. On the other hand, it isn't St. Louis or Kansas City either. Your link might indicate why Detroit might have been so sensitive about any possibility of another casino locating there. As I understand it, the GLB's historical homeland could be almost anywhere in Michigan or northern Ohio; so Detroit was right in believing there might have been at least a theoretical chance that the Band could locate in Detroit. Your link makes it clear that the City has reasons for defending their territory. Well, they can have it. The GLB can do very well by not competing with the Detroit market. One of these days it would be nice to hear what the Marquette report had to say about all this.

For those of you interested in the kind of money generated by casinos, here is a link to the financial statements of MGM Grand Inc...which by the way is 70% owned by Kirk Kerkorian, who also owns a large chunk of Daimler-Chrysler...He tried to take over Chrysler in 1995....
mgmgrand.com

For those of you who don't know...the state of Ohio does not have legalized gambling...currently the citizens of Ohio (which is a very affluent state), have to travel North to gamble...busloads & busloads
...wouldn't it be nice to have a large casino somewhere between Detroit and Ohio, JUST off the interstate?????

Sir Robert
