RESEARCH ALERT - America Online started

NEW YORK, Oct 27 (Reuters) - CS First Boston said analyst Lise Buyer initiated coverage of America Online Inc. (AOL - news) with a strong buy rating.

-- Buyer estimates earnings per share of $0.24 for Q1 1999, $1.02 for fiscal year 1999 and $1.58 for fiscal year 2000.

-- Buyer set a 12 month price target of $150 a share.

-- ''We are valuing the company on a per subscriber basis....Fundamentally, we believe the value of this, and all Internet
companies should reflect the size of the customer base, the cost to acquire and the estimated lifetime profitability of those
customers.''

-- Share price is up 2-11/16 at 122-1/4 on the New York Stock Exchange.
