Hi Mohan,..Re:Consumer Confidence'=117.3

This kind of bothers me as well. Like you, I also believe that the severe slant of business news reports on LTCM, Japan, Brazil, Clintongate, and general doom and gloom reporting combined with the market sell-off has spooked everybody.

The first Friday in Nov., the 6th, we should get the Oct. jobs report and hopefully it will still show very low unemployment along with rising wages. Other helpful indicators will be durable goods orders and industrial production which both were up last month. Finally, when the bs media climbs on the 'wonderful market and strong economy' bandwagon, that should go a little ways toward reversing this trend. Plus, Dell earnings the 12th and Fed ease the 17th might make for a happy pre-holiday season. <VBG>

Remember, the whole planet is counting on the US consumer to bail out the global economy by their continuing penchant to spend and the market going up will reinforce that behavior. <ggg>

Lee

Edit: CNBC just talking about the next segment - EP of CPQ on The Global Economic Crisis What BS. Only bad tabloid reporting.
