I can't see SEG sell its Veritas shares anytime soon. The reason I feel that way, besides the tax situation, is that Luzco is trying to build the balance sheet. Taxes would take a big bite out of the net for SEG. Also, Luzco is from the Bear Stearns Global technology, from that i assume that he has a good grasp of some of the relative values of differing technologies, ie DD vs networkers; DD vs Software, etc.

They may sell some shares if Veritas rises rapidly, however, my guess is that they will use the leverage of increasing value from the Balance Sheet to make some further acquisitions. This raises the interesting questions of what might they do next. WDC is looking awfully weak right here. The typical end of the Disk Drive glut/war has come from acquisitions/mergers/bankruptcies.

I think William's Specialist actions is a result of worry over if the market falls the Disk Drive makers could fall farther because a lack of interest in them as investment vehicles. Ironically, this is at the time that the market looks to have recovered and may well be into more "normal" times.

Only time will tell i guess,
