Being mostly a hardware guy, I decided to ask that question of our most senior system administrator person. His exact words were that Solaris is here to stay. Went on to say that it is very robust and well maintainable, which is very key to his job, and certainly to the hundreds of users we have on it. He also said that Linux, which runs on PCs, is a lot like Solaris, i.e., robust and maintainable. I guess that's vs. Windows 95, 98 or NT.
