Yes, it is so. I have extensive professional experience in this area. Options are exercised all the time depending on your strategy against beginning and professional investors alike.

Okay, I'll defer to your experience, but can you explain why this hasn't happened to me, despite hundreds of both covered and naked call trades, including some very deep in-the-money situations? Have I just been lucky...or am I such small potatoes that the big boys just don't mess with my options?


Option assignment has nothing to do with how many options or money you have. Option assignment is done on a fair and random basis, take that to mean by random statistical chance, anyone can be assigned at anytime, everyone has an equal chance of being assigned especially when an option is at or in the money.
