John, of course the Sales/Marketing VP has to make his #. Sure SEBL can help.

OK you be the VP of Sales, and I'll be the VP of IS and you convince me that I should spend money for SEBL99 next year, rather than putting it on the agenda for 2000.

Remember 40% of my IT resources are working on Y2K ONLY next year. The remaining 60% is more than 1/2 committed to day to day support of existing applications. That leaves about 25% (or less) of my entire budget, which is under recessionary pressure and likely to be cut mid-year next year for new projects.

Ahead of SFA on my agenda for next year is a wide area network upgrade, additional LAN support and improving the interface to the data warehouse we spent a ton on last year. Also ahead of you are several KEY intra net and extra net projects, leaving something like 5% of my budget for other projects.

Did I mention that I have some anxiety about large app projects that span Y2K itself, and that if we undertake SEBL it has to be DONE by 10/31/99?

So, go ahead convince me. You have my parameters and the same info I have now.
