Just ran in to this piece of news.I thought comment about U.S investors have begun to put money in to emerging markets again and 'India's low current account deficit & good corporate stories'etc are noteworthy.

Morgan Stanley bullish on Indian market allocating 13 per cent of the total global emerging markets model portfolio

Morgan Stanley Dean Witter is bullish on the Indian market allocating 13 per cent of the total global emerging markets model portfolio.

According to Robert J Pelosky Jr, managing director & global emerging market strategist at Morgan Stanley Dean Witter, New York, the model portfolio has been benchmarked against the Morgan Stanley Capital International Emerging Market Free Index. The MSCI index has a 9.1 per cent weightage for India.

India is one of the few countries where Pelosky is overweight in comparison with the MSCI Emerging Market Free Index.

The portfolio is used by leading fund managers across US to allocate resources. Pelosky is recognised as one of the best emerging markets strategist in the US.

“We are bullish on three markets in the Asian region - India, Taiwan and Korea. India assumes significance due to the low current account deficit and good corporate stories in specific sectors and a stable currency outlook. However, the UTI issue and declining agriculture growth are causes of concern,” he said.

He also stated that investors in US have begun investing in emerging markets through US companies that have a presence in emerging markets. “This meetings with top bankers, FI heads, corporates, fund managers and analysts on his Mumbai visit.
