' Y2K glitch hot topic at GTEC show

By SUSAN TAYLOR, Ottawa Sun
WITH JUST 431 days to the millennium, it's no surprise the
Year 2000 computer bug is the buzz at this year's GTEC show.

A standing-room crowd of nearly 700 delegates turned out
yesterday for a report card on global readiness.

"Year 2000 is a very hot topic," said Ron Connelly, president of
Connelly Business Exhibitions which runs the Government
Technology Exhibition.

Y2K is a strong draw, with five presentations on tap, though this
year's event is aimed at connecting countries using technology
such as the Internet. It's expected more than 1,100 bureaucrats
will attend the three-day professional development presentations.
