<I'm investing in Westell, I would like to hear their view on their customers and suppliers.>

Bill, I don't know what can be done here. I wish I knew!

<Let me clarify my point with BC, because this gets to an underlying issue with Westell. 2 CC's ago Westell didn't have a problem discussing their continued modem shipments to BC. During this CC they couldn't answer the question.>

Thanks bill, someone suggested doing away w/ the CC. I personally agree but its a part of the game unfortunately. I don't think that any analyst would even consider giving a recommendation w/o such. Legal reasons I assume.

<How can anyone make an investment decision if you can't get the answer from the company.>

Plain & simply you can't w/o guessing which is proving our risk in this one.

<I read the SEC filing, it was in black and white.>

I know you did & just pointing out that it was a mistake & that Id be working real hard if it were me. Nothing like dangling a carrot.

<So the underlying issue is... do we trust Westell and are they really looking for additional funding?>

I don't think we have a voting chance here but like I said a one-year bank loan would be fine w/ me. Maybe get rid of a few cuts of Pro Engineer @ $20,000 per full blow version. Seems a little much for just enclosures. Take a serious look @ the Y2k on the desktop. Not much of an issue unless they are using mid range computers. Lot of questions bill thats for sure.

<They certainly didn't answer Mr. Slocums questions about additional funding during the CC.>

Think they better address this!

<Do you see BEL deploying CAP in 2000, 2001, 2002? This is when BEL will hit mass deployment.>

bill, I don't know, all I know is the the IW link I posted said the incumbent has the upper hand. Im not betting on it.

<I didn't know that Paradyne was in the BA ADSL deal>

bill, they aren't included in the DSC/Wstl's PR.

Some responses from BC re: WSTL and ALA... I don't understand why MZ couldn't just say that WSTL was out of BC...This concerns me what else WSTL has lost that they are not willing to tell us...

Hi Rich

I have made a few calls and have been told that the Alcatel modem has been
installed in our Toronto and Montreal offices and will be used on a go
forward basis. Alcatell will be used for all new connections, even in
Ottawa/Hull and Quebec City where ADSL is already available.

Hi Nancy,

Thank you for the update. You say that you will be using Alcatel modems in
all new areas. Is that something happening now ? Are you actually using
any
Alcatel modems now or are you still using Westell modems? I was under the
assumption that you were still using Westell modems since Alcatel modems
were
not ready yet?

I appreciate the update.

Hi Rich

At this time, no. We are just beginning to use the Alcatel modems and have
no reason to believe, from our trials, that there is a problem.

The modem was the reason for our delay in releasing the ADSL service however
we fell confident that the ALcatel modem is ready.

Nancy,

One last question. ANy chance of Bell Canada
staying with Westell? I heard that Alcatel modems weren't quite ready and
that BC was still ordering modems from Westell?

Thanks Again!

bill in response to your note
and don't get me wrong i am in no way defending wstl's dodge and weave defense

i was always told up front that the continued modem sales to bc was only a temp situation and that wstl was not supplier of contract

second it is true of the dodge on the financing question at cc but upon further questions that i asked after that date my personal conclusion is that some sort of financing will be made
i have also felt a great deal of misinformation about wstl is around so i just call them up for clarification

if they are lying to me straight out then i can't help that and it is all i can do to try and find out the truth from the fiction
sincerely
marc
