Hi,
I have two points to make:
1. IMO, Snap Lake already clearly exhibits the potential to easily flood the world market for top quality VVSI >1 carat goods, and with over 50 years reserves(likely more than 100 years). The impact on further diamond exploration and mine developement(including Diavik), and future profitability of existing new mines (like Ekati) is tacit(could this be one of the reasons why BHP is rumored to have their Slave diamond interests up for sale?).
2. Once the threat is perceived/taken seriously, I doubt Debeers will stand by and watch their monopoly and market share threatened. They have done what ever it takes for over a century now to maintain status quo.
We are all in for some very interesting times ahead. Any bets on just how high WSP will fly? I hope I have made it perfectly clear as to just how serious IMO this situation really is.
