I'm not sure I understand what you're saying here. Clearly Solaris IS available for x86, as you go on to discuss. Why would you assume 7 is any different?

my understanding is that Solaris 7 is fully binary compatible with solaris 2.6 so all existing applications run on it without having to recompile to 64 bit (geez microsoft would love to have this problem - Win NT or Win2000 its sill 32 bit Wincrapware for gussied up home computers).I also think the new version of Solaris is available on Intel as well as Sparc at the same time - have to check the web site to confirm.

as far as running solaris x86 on a PC - solaris isnt really targeted at the casual pc user. however if your setting up a web server it could be the ticket but then again so could Linux.
