Increase in PC demand put at 40pc

The mainland's personal computer (PC) sales will set the mark for the global computer industry this year, according to reports.

A total of 4.25 million PCs will be sold this year in the mainland, representing annual growth of 40 per cent over last year, the China Daily quoted sources from the Ministry of Information Industry as saying.


Sales are expected to be worth over 160 billion yuan (about HK$148.9 billion).

Market research company Huicong predicts the mainland's market will maintain growth of over 40 per cent in the next two years.

Consumer market.

The report said the mainland's home-PC market would also maintain its growing momentum. This year, 1.27 million home PCs are expected to be sold, from 540,000 last year.
