What's behind the DELL's switch server from NOVL to MSFT!

MSFT press release saying that DELL had replaced 225 servers using
Novell NetWare software with 25 running Microsoft's Windows NT server operating system.

This news alone will send NOVL stock down to earth. That's why DELL
responded by saying that we are not pulling back from our use of NetWare altogether.

The DELL's press release is to calm down the NOVL's shareholders. But should shareholders of NOVL calmed down by this? Just read the following:

Dell's changeover to Microsoft software took place at its Austin
operations on servers controlling basic office computing, and came as
part of efforts by Dell to bring older operating systems up to
Year 2000 compliance.

As you can see that Dell is worrying about NOVL software's capability
of handling Year 2000 problems. This is the beginning of Dell's
complete switch from NOVL to MSFT. This should ring a bell for all
NOVL shareholders.

I guess they got too many emails questioning their decision to dump Novell and go to NT (like the one I sent Dell 3 days ago).

:)

I bet that Dell received several calls from their Novell-centric customers as well asking why Dell would be performing such a complex migration. Its motivations was very questionable and did not make any sense. Even this statement from Dell is a lame excuse. They are saying that they are migrating several older NetWare servers to NT in order to address the Y2K issue! Thats like saying I will use a shotgun to kill a mosquito in my house.
