"Retail Box" prices for PII/333 and PII/350 CPUs are now within $10 of "OEM" pricing w/o fans This tends to happen during generational shifts. 400 and 450 PIIs prices also fell today at pricewatch.com (after several days of stable prices), confirming the trend.

Conclusion: While there was nothing in the Intel roadmap about reducing the price of 450MHz CPUs this week, Intel may be clearing inventory in preparation of introducing new products and/or to match anticipated new products from "other" vendors.

If NSM turns out to be one of the "others", so much the better. But I suspect that AMD's K6-3 is ahead of schedule. Comments are welcome
