To Tim A: In the old fashioned phrase, right on. George Gilder is wrong now and then. Hell, he is human. I think he is wrong re TLAB. But you are absolutely right. He tries to pick "ascendant technologies" and the companies he chooses are "representative" of those technologies, nada mas. His weakness IMO is that he concentrates on "pure plays" to illustrate his ideas. This means he shows too many companies which are very narrow vs those who have a broad range of capabilities - such as Tellabs. Note that in fairness, he did reply to my post to him re Tellabs on his SI thread, and said he was concerned re some of the Tellabs technologies and was not saying the company itself would crash and burn - well, more or less. :-) Chaz
