From the Financial Times, Friday, Oct 30th, Vod-Ati In London Vodafone gained more than 5 per cent on persistent suggestions from influential US brokers that it is poised to negotiate, after months of speculation, a merger with Airtouch of the US. Vodafone has recently overtaken Airtouch in stock market value but any deal would have to be done on terms that protected the egos in both boardrooms from image and status belittlement. FWIW, this excerpt may liven up this quiet board.
