To me it seems that WSTL is being used by the RBOC's in it's field trials for concepts, logistics in deployment strategies, pricing, and market interest. When they are ready to go for real deployment, WSTL has consistently failed to win a long term real deployment.
Example, field trails with GTE, BT, BC, and BA,…..all either field trails or short term CAP roll outs.
When MZ said that the company may be profitable by 2000, …..that, in my opinion was the kiss of death for WSTL.
By then ALA should have their "four line" line card ready for their DSLAM and 3COM should be fully interoperable with it.
The big boy's will NOT need WSTL's ADSL and no one would even want to buy the company.
In my opinion look to see WSTL filing chapter 11. These are sad days for WSTL. Sorry for all the gloom and doom
but after the last CC this is how I see it.
Later……….
