Thanks for all the replies guys. It is too bad that they do not force these guys to colour their glass diamonds like they did with margarine a number of years ago.
I should have mentioned that this moissanite is a natural product and is carbon based. There are subtle differences between this and diamonds. One quoted example is that there is more refraction under uv light. That was the only difference stated in the newscast. The manufacturer when interviewed was quite put out when the reporter prior to the story suggested that they were cubic zirconia.

If the story is correct and at this point I do not believe or disbelieve, then I am sure that we will hear more.

It could be worse! The diamond could have came from the Home Shopping Network!
