I agree with you that the historic and contemporary violence and human rights abuses of governments such as China, Russia, etc.deserve much more scrutiny. I have also seen little examination of human rights abuses within Cuba, i.e. outside the context of Cold War battlegrounds such as Angola. One thing that disturbed me very much was Cuba's decision to send AIDs victims into these supposedly benign concentration camps. Can you point me to some Web sites that document or detail Cuban allegations?

Zoltan, your left-right worldview is not only tiresome and dated, but keeps your mind closed. Plenty of those on the supposed left, including Hannah Arendt and Noam Chomsky, have condemned the brutality and mass murders of the former Soviet Union. Honecker was brought to account for his injustices in German courts. Rightwing and leftwing dictators have far more in common with each other than they do with the democratic world.

BTW, Pinochet "restored" Democracy to Chile after 17 years of iron-fisted rule and then only under intense international pressure.
