Prudential not only started Seagate at hold, but also started coverage of Quantum and Western Digital also at holds. Many times you will see a brokerage firm start coverage at hold only to issue a stronger opinion soon thereafter.

While researching the history of recommendations, I notice that last month Alex Brown started Seagate at a strong buy and Montgomery raised Seagate from hold to buy. On the other hand Alex Brown started WDC at market-performer and lowered Quantum to market-performer from buy.

Seagate appears to be winning over the analysts as the best of the independent drive-makers. Not that this means anything.
