*AV*--Gee, that's what I like about you Patrick. Your kind words of encouragement and your equally fine commentary on my abilities. With that said, I wanted to make sure EVERYONE saw the SEC indictments, saw which of the popular newsletters and persons were indicted, and were able to become better educated and informed as to the possibility of online scams, shams, etc. Of course, I would like to point out a few REAL RELEVANT items of interest. 1. One of the 44 indicted has/had an internet Silicon Investor Thread where he touted his stocks. 2. Looking at that site, it looks very close to quite a few locations on Silicon Investor that seem to be doing the same thing. 3. All these people were "paid gunfighters" and "stock promoters" that were very well compensated for their services. 4. Most of them were effectively involved in "Pump and Dump" type activities. 5. None of them disclosed the compensation they were to receive, would receive, or had received. Nor did they disclose they were effectively stock promoters for hire. 6. AND FINALLY, you do not see my name or this thread amongst those that were indicted. The last statement above (#6)is, obviously, the most important.<GGG> But for the record and to be perfectly clear: 1. I have never EVER taken one ounce of compensation in any way shape or form for anything I have posted on Silicon Investor or the various emails and newsletter items I have sent out. 2. I have no intention of ever accepting any form of compensation for any reports I publish since I choose what I write about and what type of companies I research. 3. There will probably be a time when either I am approached or I write about a company that has indeed contacted me prior to my printed discussions. Or, a seemingly harmless courtesy is extended. In other words, never say never. If and when this arises, you have my assurances that it would be openly disclosed. I cannot control who contacts me or who might offer me anything. It is not my intention to ever be a paid gun for hire but I do need to cover my butt and check to see what is permissable. Compromising situations can arise down the road that I personally would not consider being unethical. Therefore, I guess I need to see exactly what the rules of conduct should be. Andrew
