I was surprised to see that USW's 3rd qtr earnings were even up to "FLAT" as the problems and cost associated with the MEGABIT roll-out have greatly exceeded internal expectations. Only traditional private line services are making projections. Megabit has been publicly announced as being available to 70% of homes passed, but the experience to date this year barely makes 30%. In August there were only 3,614 Megabit customers. The inside wire problems being encountered were never expected or forecast. Megabit service is requiring an average of three (3) truck rolls to get it working ... this for a non-designed service that is not suppoed to have any. Costs are going up on a hockey stick track!
