Kaleidoscope Media Group Teams With Abrams/Gentile to Launch New "Micronauts" Animated Series

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 28, 1998--The partnership of Kaleidoscope Media Group and Abrams/Gentile Entertainment for the production and merchandising/licensing of a new "Micronauts" series has finalized agreements with toy manufacturer, Giochi Preziosi, and Canadian and European co-production partners Annex and Gribouille, to insure the start of production of the 26 half-hour series before the end of the year for delivery in Fall of 1999.

The weekly series is based on the "Micronauts" toys which were the original male action figure toy line and in the 70's and 80's generated over $300 million in revenues. A comic book based on the "Micronauts" was introduced in the late 1970's and with over 175 monthly issues published it is by far Marvel's most serialized toy based comic. This year Marvel has introduced a new "Micronauts" series of comic books.

"Micronauts" is a worldwide brand. Its characters and related artifacts have become major collectibles throughout the world. Over 100 "Micronauts" fan-based websites are currently on the World Wide Web and are included among PC Magazine's "Top 100 Websites."

Abrams/Gentile Entertainment produces children's programs and is involved in toy development and design, licensing and merchandising. Among its shows are "Dragon Flyz," "Sky Dancers" and "Vanpires." It is headed by CEO, Marty Abrams; President, John Gentile; and Vice President, Anthony Gentile.

Siegel, who has a highly successful history in children's programming, has introduced more than 20 children's series including: "Care Bears," "Inspector Gadget," "Heathcliff," and "Sailor Moon."

Giochi Preziosi, one of the top three European toy manufacturers, will be working with Abrams/Gentile in the development of the new technology-based toy line that will be introduced worldwide in early 2000.

Annex Entertainment of Canada and Gribouille of France will be the production partners for the series.

Annex, headed by Richard Borchiver, former president of Paragon, which launched numerous children's TV series including the Kratt's Creatures and Shari Lewis programs, has reached agreement with YTV to become the Canadian broadcaster.

Gribouille, an innovative producer of animated and CGI product, will be the lead production entity. Didier Pourcel and Lloyd Nathan, the managing partners in the company, have recently partnered with Ellipse to produce the Excaliber series.
