I couldn't agree more. I have owned APCC long since before 9 (early 96) and have sold off 66% of my position lately (nice capital gain!). A very good company with a rosy future, but I don't think it deserves a PE greater then 25 on trailing earnings. At the current level, APCC is up over 50% since it's August dip(27 to 42).

GD,
I suggested friends look at GD (long) recently at 44. One friend kept insisting BA was a better play and I couldn't convince him otherwise. GD has made a terrific run, especially for a company that size. The % return over this short period has been fantastic. I am just wondering if the short term party is over? I am expecting a return to the 48-50 area. Thanks svelt doc, I don't blame you for not wanting to part with the stock at this time.

The telecom semi companies have been exploding as well. UNPH, VTSS, GALFT, RFMD, PCMS, BRCM, etc. Have taken 50% off the table with VTSS (from 18 to 32) and 75% off with RFMD (10 to 22).

Lastly, I am long ABTX, having made my latest purchase below 9. Stock has exploded the last 2 days (from 12 to 17). I have been very fortunate going long this company. Huge short position as of last month, not sure where they stand after the last 48 hours. My house funds are now all that's left and they are greater then my initial position in this company.<g>

When I take profits, I like to leave some stock (usually 10 to 15%)as "free" money, on the house, so to speak (only if I like the company's business). I continue to move about 40% of profits into cash and gold. I have been keeping my stock level about 60% of portfolio at this time. I continue to slowly trim my stock % down from 95% in June of this year.
