Language that people choose to use on the stand is interesting, JG. Part of my job is giving "expert" testimony. I've heard that phrasing before and for some reason it always makes me suspicious: "the answer would be ..."

Still, it is a very believable story, MSFT strong-arming AAPL and AOL. I think first and foremost Bill is a very shrewd businessman -- perhaps too shrewd.

I really hope that this isn't just MSFT bashing -- not that I don't think they deserve to be taken down a notch for producing very buggy, bloated garbage -- rather I would like to see other folks who have a desire for quality have a real chance to compete. In 1990, I was working at McDonnel Douglas. OUr area was a MAC shop. The office applications for the MAC at that time worked so very well together. I could embed charts and drawings into WORD with ease. Typesetting equations was 10x better than under the current windows apps.

I have IE at home and Netscape at work. I really prefer Netscape. I wish Apple hadn't botched things so bad. They had a very nice operating system.

I look at the advances -- multi-tasking and ease of switching between apps, interoperability -- 95% of the users I know, make no use of these features at all -- if they did in the current regime they would be what I am -- frustrated.
