Bucky89, I agree that Ascend is the most logical choice for Lucent.
Along with the technical advantages, that you and others can more aptly describe, common geographical locations also should be
an important consideration.

(Of course, it is my totally biased opinion, that the Core Systems/CSCC division would be the primary reason such a choice.)

The article (posted by Hisham A Mageed) may indicate what Mory
expects out of such a merger.

< I am still convinced that ASND will be picked up very soon by LU>

I think what we are seeing here is the classic big corporation thinking, on LU's part, brought with them from T. don't make a move until you have had at least 100 internal meetings on it. No one wants to make a decision so they appoint another committee to study it.

If Bernie Ebbers or John Chambers was running LU, they would have both pulled the trigger on ASND, the first day they were allowed a pooling of interest. It is evident to anyone with a rudimentary understanding of networking, that LU has to have ASND to compete with CSCO. If they don't buy ASND or buy another company and hope to catch up, the game is over. Cisco wins.

Or they can wait until Mory gets ASND up to $60 and be looking at a $80 to $90 asking price. ASND knows what they have have and they are not going to give their self away. These are my opinions and they are based on very little knowledge.

Jim

DISCLAIMER: I do not own any LU or CSCO stock. (I sure have a lot of ASND that I would like to dump for $60's)
