Cringe - Re: " this "superb segmentation strategy" is backfiring because people who want to purchase PII 333s can purchase Celeron A 333s for much less money and not lose too much performance. "

You are showing your cluelessness again.

Heard of XEON ?

Heard of 450 MHz Pentium IIs?

HEard of 400 MHz Pentium IIs?

Heard of Katmai?

Heard of Dixon ?

Heard of Cascades ?

Heard of Coppermine?

Heard of Cirrus?

Cringe - Re: " AMD's die sizes are still smaller than Intel's die sizes. "

This would only be relevant if AMD had yields as good as Intel.

They don't !

Intel's DIE costs are still lower because their yields are SIGNIFICANTLY higher than AMD's.

Here's proof:

Intel Q398 Profits - $1,559,000,000.00

AMD's Q398 Profit - $1,000,000 (Courtesy of a $10,000,000 interest income on BORROWED MONEY).

The difference = 1,558,000,000 - in favor of Intel.

Cringe - Re: " AMD must have learned this trick because they raised the price of the K6-2 300MHz."

For that reason, volumes of this 300 MHz will plummet. The 300 MHz Intel CeleronA is faster and cheaper.

Cringe - Re: "AMD earned $0.01/share this quarter. Although not much, it is $0.23 UP from year ago and UP $0.46 from the Prior quarter. "

Does this mean that AMD LOST $0.24 a year ago and they LOST $0.47 in Q298 ?

How terrible !

LOSING MONEY while Intel is pocketing >$1 BILLION in profits per quarter?

Shameful !

Paul
