BTG: You're right, coax with its 750Mbps bandwidth is quite a wide pipe if you have it all to yourself. Unfortunately, it's a shared medium. The more users, the less bandwidth is available for each subscriber. Most of the cable network is not bi-directional. That's
a big problem. The cable network also uses a common ground. However, the cable companies are addressing these issues. They really want the incremental revenue... at least in major metropolitan areas.

The phone companies have a real problem in that they have their heads up their @sses. They still think xDSL will eat into their high margin T1 revenues. Hopefully, the CLECs will force them to think competitively rather than monopolistically.

If everyone calls their states Public Service Commission (PSC) and complains about not having G.lite available, the PSCs will eventually tell the telcos to roll out G.lite or else not have their rate increases approved.
