Short interest is up 200K to 3.1M shares this month. Current graphs and tables at the following link (just type in MRVC):

viwes.com

If you compare the table of shares short per month to a graph of closing price/day - you see an association of a significant increase in the short position over the months prior to the price drop.

Thanks for the analysis-my technically useless mind figures that if the company can earn a base of around $40MM and grow earning by 10% a year, which doesn't seem unreasonable then a 15 pe ratio would make worth around $600MM now. That equates to around $22.50 a share, and makes this price look like a bargain. On the other hand if one can get a 20% return to maturity buying the convertible bonds, that seems awfully good too. Either way it seems unlikely that this company will go bankrupt and a value of $22.50 leaves a huge margin for error, assuming the new technology works and does not get obliterated by some more advanced one.
