art, surely you don't think that the past guarantees the future? i always look forward. the statement was made going forward.

i've heard what sound like two investing styles:

1. ibm went up the last five years so it will go up in the future.
2. everyone else is buying ibm and they can't all be dumb.

is that the best this thread can offer?
