Maxwell , it isn't a case of Intel will not let them as Yousef states
It is a question of what the major PC mfrs will allow since THEY ARE NOW IN CONTROL . Since AMD became a viable alternative i.e. when they ramped volume over approx 3 M K6-2s , they now have a choice . They are not about to go back to the old monopoly playing field even if Intel investors want to " make it so " .
Just as apparent is the change in AMD's future product line since they now have superior architecture on the horizon , the only hope Intel has is to outspend AMD on new wafer processing equipment .
