Greenspan's "magic bullet" hasn't penetrated this bear's hide.

I was reading a report by one of Merrill Lynch's Emerging Markets people, Joyce Chang. Ms. Chang's presentation was riddled w/ the same word I put a pennant on a few months back -- commodities. She was, of course, citing the effects of commodities prices on the GDP of emerging economies. Bad, very bad.

Notice, too, that there has been no elation from market analysts over the funding scenario for Brasil. That's because it won't work. Part of Cardoso's austerity plan is to raise taxes. Doesn't exactly promote growth. Does it? It's just another bailout for the banks.
