E,

Our interpretations of metaphor are like Rorshachs--letters to ourselves about the nature of our perceptions.

The people on the banks, non-swimmers, indeed live full lives full of "beauty, morality, value, dedication . . .". I have never said, (contrary to your impression) that atheists are immoral, for example, or lacking in these other assets--I have questioned (among other things) "the source of their morality" (a wording which assumes the existence of a morality).

What I do believe, perceive, and have experienced, is that there exists another dimension of life--beyond the firmament, beyond tangible matter: a spiritual reality which one can experience, an augmentative dimension whose experience is precluded when doesn't acknowledge its existence, or to extend the water metaphor, won't allow themselves the experience of it.

That I perceive this dimension, find meaning in it, and have a wish to share my experience does not deny you anything.

Rick
