Joe, WEll I'll need a break around noon to actually go to work (going in late today.. god I love working in an educational instutituion <VBG>). So I'll be away between probably noon and 1:30, but after that I'm ready to go ;-) <VBG>Steve, I didn't realize you liked to write game software. That's something I could take a seriously liking too. Especially, when 64 bit computing becomes commonplace. Joe, yeah I'm writing one in my spare time, if you are intersted in getting in at all (even beta testing) e-mail me at sporter@pc-boo2.sos.mcmaster.ca (that's my work IMAP server so I can check it from anywhere).btw...UNIX is getting a big lift these days with LINUX on the rampage, and IBM just bought SCO. They want to manage UNIX. Plus INTC is buidling 64-bit chip for UNIX and I think they have some software UNIX angles being prepared to aggrate Bill Gates. This is only temporary. I have heard that 2000-64 (the 64 bit verison of NT, will be impressive, featuring clustering, smart hard mirroring, a netware style directory service, and many other things. In addition, SGI is throwing their support behind MSFT and so is IBM and HWP. I heave heard that HWP doesn't plan anything after the HPUX 11.x vain. btw...UNIX is good for COMS. Networking part of the OS is still a couple of years ahead of NT. (this line, I stick in with the dual purpose of keeping the discussion relevant to the COMS thread:-) ) Come again. UNIX's networking is ahead of NT's?.. Not even close. Have you ever installed/admined NT networking. It's about 5 times as easy as unix, which makes it more attractive. It's also a lot more robust in terms of wide protocl and hardware support. I use NT as all my main servers now. UNIX is just for engineering workstations where I work. Hell our hospital (mcmaster) is running NT on the head-end now. Steve
