Sure. For each ADSL subscriber, a service provider (RBOC or CLEC) will need to terminate the copper loop from the premises on a compatible dedicated ADSL port at the CO. (Unlike with dial modems, ADSL does not used the switched network to establish physical layer connections.) The DSLAM at the CO then establishes virtual connections (IP/ATM/FR) with the data service provider through a concentrated interface on the network side of the POP.
