Ever read anything about chaos theory?
Chaos and Natural Selection are the cornerstones of successfull prediction. The problem comes in determining what is the attractor for chaotic boundaries. Many of variables are also step functions i.e. they are decisions which are either made or not (The interest rate will be lowered today, or else it won't). The effect of a step function on a chaotic equation is very hard if not imposible to predict. When you simplify enough the chaos is smeared out and what you have is the fundamental trend anyway.

Voodoo,Astrology, psychic phenomenon, ESP and T/A-Infallible they said.

Well said Rich,

I am of the opinion that the 'practioners' of the occult have a better chance than the devotees of T/A or other esoteric devices in accurately predicting anything particularly the stock market,

One needn't look any farther than the recent LTCM fiasco to prove my point. They were said to have been infallible since they were using applied mathematics, various and sundry formulae, chaos theory, uncertainty principle and what not in their 'nureal' computer program in their investment strategy, infallable they said, yeah right my a$#@. Yahoooooooooooooooooooo.

Call me a sadist but Man... I love it when the 'experts' take it on the chin and the 'little' guys do better than the gurus.

Aaaaaah...... such small pleasures of life, what would I do without them.<vbg>
