I usually do check B&N. Actually, one of them was discounted 20% by Amazon, and not by B&N. (Applied Cryptography, by Bruce Schneier, the paperback 2nd edition). acses.com compares prices (although it doesn't always seem to catch everything that you can find at a company's website), and there are a couple of places that have about a 10% discount on many things Amazon sells at full price, but the multiple shipping charges, delay and bother of splitting up the order can eat into that quickly, since many of them don't have as large a stock.
