Hey, I'm still optimistic about Inprise!

>> And then there are those lying no good Borland people still in there.

Now, I didn't say that. The people at Inprise, i.e. Del, are honest people trying to do an honest job.

My point was that a prior CEO failed to be forthright and the financial media have very long memories. They are much kinder to companies that warn than to those that surprise. A 60% lower earnings surprise was just so unnecessary.

Now a cynic could argue that allowing such a surprise was sound tactical move since it caused the stock price to drop prior to the 5 million share stock buy-back. Still, I like seeing a company express confidence in itself by buying back shares.

I'm was happyto add to my position when the price hit a low, but like most of you, it pains me to watch the stock dwell around the bottom like it is.

While I have a few thousand bucks invested (worth a bit less than it once was!), the risk to me is nothing compared to the risk faced by Inprise executives who know they better start increasing shareholder value before the big money investors hand them their hats.
