I haven't ever heard of a criminal avoiding conviction by using the "other people do it, too" defense. Why should it work here?

Monopoly power refers to *power*. Market share is just one indication of it. America Online never had and still doesn't have any power over what online service people use. Netscape had a certain amount of power over what browser people use because businesses like to standardize. But Microsoft has tremendous control over what operating system people use.
