I brought up the non-profit scam a few days ago. I think it is another example of government picking winners and losers. If your goal meets with the approval of the politicians they shower you with tax benefits. It is slightly better for non profits to do certain tasks instead of government agencies in one respect. If the executives of tax exempts abuse the system too much, people stop giving - as the United Way discovered a few years ago. Bureaucrats don't have that problem.
