"There's that dark fiber word again." Sounds like a video game from Eidos or something.

GBLX write up in today's IBD computer & technology section.

Titled: Phone Maverick Surfaces Among Telecom's sharks

I tried to locate an electronic version but was unsuccessful.

* Mentions some ML estimates: sales to grow from about 383 mill this year to 695 in '99 and 1.9 bill in '04.

* Pacific cable system is sheduled to be completed in March 2000.

*Competitor CTR Group Ltd. "project oxygen" expects to announce partners for a 3 billion Atlantic cable by year end. CTR wants to start service in 2000. CTR plans to compete by offering better leasing options. It will also link smaller markets bypassed by GBLX.

*GBLX says it's fiber links will span the world's 50 largest cities by mid 2000.

*TAT-14, another competitor, is entering the market but is behind 30 months in the Atlantic and 5 in the Pacific.

* Pricing for for leased trans-Atlantic phone lines has dropped by half since GBLX began operating in May.

I found this a good site for company references & research:
