Scoobey: Thanks for the suggestion but I was advised not to convert to a Roth IRA because of my age (62) and the 5-year waiting period before having access to the money without penalty. LT PM'd me with a good suggestion that I inquire about the possibility, however remote, of claiming the $31,000 MTEI paper loss as a crime-victim loss from my IRA. Of course, that is if MTEI's actions are ever officially declared a fraud. I am waiting for my accountant to get back to me on that one and will post his response, in case anyone else has a similar IRA loss due to this scam. Donster
