Gerald, you're absolutely correct.
The point made was for "end-users" and seems like Unixers seem to be not getting the point across. Simple things like ease-of-use, user friendlyness, support, upgrade path, backward compatibility. etc. etc.

I couldn't agree more. Linux is a throw back to the days when users had their hands held by systems programmers, and systems programmers could write code, instead of being Microsoft Certified Systems Engineers who only know how to reinstall three different operating systems or access a help line when something goes wrong, but are not permitted to write a single line of system code. In olden times, when a unicoid wanted to install a new piece of equipment he wrote a driver, when he wanted a word-processor he ginned one together out of the e, and ed and a broken set of commands and nroff. Today, we are prisoners of microserfs and can do nothing outselves without becoming slaves of the dark lords. I do not expect that we shall continue half-slave and half-free. Even today there are thousands of youths -- yea children -- learning the challenges of Linux. Mighty Intel is stirring. Methinks I see in my mind a noble and puissant nation rousing herself like a strong man after sleep, and shaking her invincible locks: methinks I see her as an eagle mewing her mighty youth, and kindling her undazzled eyes at the full midday beam ...
